Exporting Library to Figma Make Error

Alex Sebastiano

I just published the library but I don’t have the option to export. After clicking publish, I went back into my assets tab and saw that the option to “publish” appears again...so I tried clicking on it but then the new window I have unchanged components (which is true) and the blue publish button is greyed out. Is this a bug of some sort? I tried closing out of Figma entirely a few times and that still didn’t work.

Over in the Figma Make tab, it doesn’t acknowledge the library at all.

(I’m not on an edu. account but a company account)

Thank you!

Hi @Alex Sebastiano

It sounds like the "Export to Make" button isn't appearing in the Publish library modal when you try to export your library from Figma Design to Figma Make.

We typically see this happen if a library doesn't contain any components.

Could you try adding a single component to the library and publishing it to see if the Export to Make option becomes available?

Thanks,

Alex Sebastiano

Hi @Junko3

It contains 1 component (button with three states). 🤔

Hi @Alex Sebastiano ,

Thanks for following up!

I’ve gone ahead and created a support ticket(#1793307 ) on your behalf.
Once you receive the ticket confirmation email, please share the following by replying to that email:

  • The URL of the file where you’re seeing the issue, and grant view access to support-share@figma.com (This won’t impact your billing)

Hey @Julia92, thanks for sharing a screenshot! I’m stepping in on behalf of @Junko3 to help here.

Let’s walk through a few quick checks together to troubleshoot this before looping in our support team.

To export a library for Figma Make, you'll need to:

  1. Open your Figma Design file that contains the library you want to export
  2. Select the Assets tab in the left sidebar
  3. Click Libraries
  4. Find your file in the "This file" section and click Publish to open the library publishing modal
  5. If the library isn't published yet, click Publish at the bottom of the modal (only published libraries can be exported to Figma Make)
  6. Look for the "Export for Make" button - this should appear after publishing

If you're not seeing the "Export for Make" option, here are a few things to check:

  • Do you have edit access to the library's source file? Only people with edit access can export libraries to Figma Make
  • Is the library published? The library must be published before you can export it to Figma Make
  • Are there components, styles, or variables in the file? If there are none, try creating at least one to see if the export option appears

Please see our Bring style context from a Figma Design library into Figma Make and Publish a library guides for more details.

Hope that helps, let me know how it goes! I’m happy to keep troubleshooting with you or get you connected to our support team if needed.

@Junko3 @Gayani_S
I am having a similar problem. I get the “Export to Figma Make”, but I get an error when pressing it. I have no idea how to solve this, and I really don’t have much time. Please help! I’ve added access to the support-share@figma.com to my file. Here’s the URL:
