Errors in interactions after copying a interactive component from a set to the prototype

For the past week, I’ve been experiencing an error in all my existing files. My component sets include interactions designed to simulate an “in-view” scroll effect. Until recently, these always worked perfectly, they are set up to play once. However, when I insert the component into the prototype, the interactions are always changed in the same way, causing them to be incorrectly displayed as a loop. I can only avoid this by resetting the interactions after copying. The main components work without any issues.

I’ve already read that similar errors have occurred in the past. Has anyone else experienced something similar recently?

Hey, everyone ( @Youssef Ramchi and @EcloLINK , I moved your posts to this thread since it’s the same issue)! Stepping in for @Junko3 .

Thank you all for reporting this issue - it was a pretty unusual thing to see with your prototypes. We’ve released a change that should help prevent this issue from occurring with newly created or copied instances.

  • To repair existing instances, you can reset interactions or create a new copy of the affected instance. To reset interactions, do the following:
    • Select the affected component instances that have the looping animations.
    • Select the "prototype" tab in the top of the editor bar.
    • Select the "Reset Interactions" button to the right of the "Interactions" header.
  • Please note that resetting interactions will reset the component instance’s interactions to match its main component
  • If you still encounter this or a different issue, please reach out to Support with:
    • An example file
    • A screen recording

Thanks again for your patience while our team worked on this issue. Have a great day!

Hi, since last week I've been having a problem with all my components, for example this one:

When I run it on my prototype, I can properly hover it, when I click on it, it opens, but if I hover the open state, it triggers the hover state in a loop. I always create my components like that and never had a problem before. I can work around the issue by clicking the "Reset interaction" button on each instance of the component.

Is this a new bug or am I missing something?

Hi @Nina Grylla ,

I understand you're experiencing an issue where the interactions in your component set are not working as expected after inserting an instance into a prototype — specifically, an interaction set to play once is incorrectly changing to a loop.

I tried to replicate this on my end, but since the setup can vary (for example, whether you're using a video with looping disabled, an After delay trigger between frames, or another type of interaction), I wasn't able to reproduce the exact issue you're describing.

Since we're unable to view your file directly here on the Forum due to security and privacy concern, if you're open to it, I'd recommend submitting a bug report so our team can take a closer look:

  1. Go to the Support Hub
  2. Type "Report a bug" and click Start a chat
  3. In the form, please include:
    • A direct link to the affected file with Can view access granted to support-share@figma.com (this won't affect your billing)
    • A screen recording showing the interaction setup and the issue

This will help our team understand your exact setup and investigate more effectively.

Thanks!

me too, in the past weeks I’ve been having a lot of problems when animating a component in my file design system and when copy an instance into another file the animation doesn’t work at all. What is happening ?  this was working very well a few months ago...
