Error uploading video, please try again / An invalid video was removed

I’m currently unable to upload any videos to my Figma files. Whenever I try, I receive the messages: “Error uploading video, please try again” followed by “An invalid video was removed.”

This issue started suddenly and affects all video uploads. I’ve tested different files and even tried using an incognito browser window, but the problem persists.

Interestingly, I created a separate account and video uploads work there without any issues, which suggests the problem may be specific to my main account.

Could you please help me understand what might be causing this and how to fix it?

Thank you.

Out of nowhere I can't upload any kind of videos to any of my Figma files. Whenever a try it a message appears with "“Error uploading video, please try again” and than “An invalid video was removed”. Please, let me know how to fix this

Hi @Caio Pereira, Celyn from Figma Community Support here.

Thanks for flagging this — just a heads up that I’ve merged your post from another thread here to keep everything in one place.

From what I understand, you’re unable to upload videos across your Figma files, and each attempt results in the messages “Error uploading video, please try again” followed by “An invalid video was removed.”

To help narrow this down, could you share a bit more detail?

  • Does this happen after successfully uploading multiple videos, or right from the first upload? Have you noticed any patterns?

In the meantime, I’ve gone ahead and created a support ticket (#1861087) for you so the team can take a closer look. It would be really helpful for their investigation if you could reply directly to the ticket with the following:

  • A direct link to one of the impacted files and invite support-share@figma.com with Can View access (this won’t impact your billing and will allow us to investigate further)
  • A short screen recording of what happens when you try to upload the video, if possible

Someone from the team will be in touch shortly, so please keep an eye on your inbox.

This has just started happening to me as well on a file where I had already uploaded many (200+) videos. I can’t upload the same videos to any file in my account, not just the one. Videos that uploaded previously aren’t uploading. I tried clearing my Desktop app cache as well and the error persists.

Hi @Peter Cho,  thanks so much for sharing all of that context. It’s really helpful to understand that this is affecting multiple files, including videos that previously uploaded without any issues.

I can see you’ve already tried clearing your cache, which is a great step.

I was able to locate your support ticket (#1878949) and have escalated it internally so the team can take a closer look at what’s going on. I also saw that you’ve shared your file link, appreciate that.

If you haven’t already, could you also invite support-share@figma.com with Can View access? This won’t affect your billing, and it’ll allow us to reproduce the issue and investigate more thoroughly.

It would also really help if you could reply directly to the ticket with:

  • A screen recording showing the steps leading up to the issue (full window in view if possible)
  • One of the video files you’re trying to upload

That should give us what we need to move things forward more quickly.

Thanks again for flagging this and for working with us on it, someone from the team will reach out to you shortly 🙏

The error went away after about 36 hours, without taking any other steps on my end. Not sure how.
