Elements Disappearing After Updates: A Recurring Bug?

Laura_UXUI

Hello everyone,

For the past few months, I’ve been noticing a recurring issue with Figma: after each update, some elements in my designs (like text or buttons) disappear or revert to an earlier version. I’ve checked the version history, and there’s no intervention from my team. This issue occurs on both my professional and personal accounts, and even on designs that haven’t been modified in a long time, sometimes over two years.

When I look at exported versions (whether as images or on Zeplin), these errors weren’t present before the update and the export. This suggests that the problem isn’t due to my own oversight, but rather a bug.

The issue is quite problematic because it forces me to double-check and correct these designs before every client or internal presentation. I’m curious to know if anyone else has encountered this issue and if there are any known solutions.

Thank you in advance for your feedback!

Hi @Laura_UXUI

I understand you’re experiencing an issue where elements in your designs disappear or revert to an earlier version after updates.

We’d like to gather a bit more information to help narrow this down. Could you clarify how these elements are changing?

  • Are the affected elements instances from a library?
  • If so, do the root components in the library also show changes after updates?

To escalate this to our team for deeper investigation, we would appreciate it if you could share the following information:

  • A screen recording or screenshot showing the issue, including the entire Figma window.
  • The URL(s) of the affected file and any related library files.

    • Please add support-share@figma.com as an Editor to those files, and then have your admin approve the upgrade request for that account(This will not change your plan’s seat count and you will not be charged for the support-share account).

Once you provide this information, I’ll create a support ticket on your behalf so our team can investigate further.

If you prefer to share this information privately, you can also contact our Support team directly:

Select “Contact us” via the (?) icon in the app, or Go to “ Hi there. How can we help?” → type your question → click Start Chat

The chatbot will help you open an bug report with our team.

Thanks,
