It sounds like your education team might have exceeded the free Starter plan's limit of 3 files and 1 project, and your education status has expired, which is why it's locked.
Once your education status expired, your account was switched to the free Starter Plan. To unlock it, you'll need to move any extra files to your team drafts, transfer them to another team, or re-subscribe to a paid plan.

Hello, if I lose the education status and access to the original email account associated, will I lose the work done in that figma account?

Not necessarily. If you reach out to support to explain the issue and they can verify you as the owner of the account, they can help change your email address and recover your files, as needed.
