Hi,
I’m experiencing an issue with my Figma Education plan after updating my university email, and I’d appreciate some guidance.
I originally verified my student status via SheerID using my university email.
My university later updated my email address (same domain, only the name changed), and I updated my Figma account accordingly.
After this change:
- My role still shows as “Education”
- But my plan is now “Basic”
- I also get a “Verification Limit Exceeded” error when trying to re-verify
I contacted SheerID, and they confirmed that:
- My verification was successfully approved
- No re-verification is required at this time
- If wish to have the offer migrated to another account, please reach out to Figma for further assistance. Figma's customer support team can be reached at: sheeridescalations@figma.com. (I already sent an email through there)
So it seems the issue is not with eligibility, but with the verification not being reflected after the email update.
Timeline of events:
- Nov 9, 2025: I verified my student status via SheerID using my university email
([old email]) → verification approved successfully. - ~1 week ago: My university updated my email address (same domain, only the name changed).
I updated my email in my Figma account to: [new email] - After updating the email:
- My role still shows as “Education”
- My plan changed to “Basic” (student benefits no longer applied)
- I attempted to re-verify my student status → received error:
“Verification Limit Exceeded” - I contacted SheerID support → they confirmed:
- My verification is already approved and still valid
- No re-verification is required
- Any migration/sync must be handled by Figma
- I have since:
- Contacted Figma via sheeridescalations@figma.com
- Submitted the “Request to Move Figma Edu Status” form
I wanted to clarify:
This is not a case of using the wrong email, both emails belong to my university (same domain), and the change was made by the institution.
Would it be possible to link my existing verification to my updated email/account?
Thanks in advance for your help!
