Education Plan Missing

I am experiencing an issue with the Figma for Education plan related to my student account and verification limits. Long story short this entire process has been confusing. 

I previously verified for the Figma Education plan through SheerID last month (October 2025). Now last week, I deleted the account that had the Education plan because I wanted to re-verify under a different edu account that I have on Figma. After deleting the original account, I expected the verification to reset—but it didn’t.

I tried remaking the Figma account I deleted with the education plan but now both of my accounts are stuck on the Starter plan, and I can’t re-verify because Figma shows “Verification Limit Exceeded.” SheerID says my verification is active on the account I deleted. 

I contacted SheerID, and here is what they said:

SheerID only handles the verification process.
My verification is approved on their end, but each person can only verify once every 335 days.
They cannot reset or redo the verification.
Only Figma Support can link my verification to the correct account or reset the limit.

They have provided me the verified email, request ID and date I successfully verified. 

 

So currently:

My old account (after recreating it) no longer shows the Education plan

My new account can’t activate the Education plan

I get the “Verification Limit Exceeded” message

Education-team files show the banner requiring verification

 

I have reached out to education@figma.com. Not sure how long it takes to process this request.

Hey ​@SP901! Firstly, welcome to Figma Forum, and sorry to hear about the confusion with the verification process. I’m glad we got in touch.

I hear where you’re getting stuck: The new account isn’t activating under the Education plan, and your files are still showing the verification banner. For good measure, one place to double check is whether you have the option to upgrade the team where those files live by following this process: Figma for Education → To upgrade an existing team.

If that doesn’t clear things up, I can see that you’ve opened a ticket with our Education Team. Your case number is: 1602200, and they’ll be able to take a deeper look and follow up with specific guidance. I’ve also surfaced your post to make sure they have the full context.

Thanks for response. 

I tried the steps just to double check, but unfortunately I still don’t have the option to upgrade the team to the Education plan. Both of my accounts only show the Starter plan, and the verification banner still appears on my Education team files.

I appreciate you confirming the ticket number and surfacing my post to the Education Team. Just wanted to clarify that I originally actived an Education plan last month and was using it before deleting the account associated with it last week. I intended to delete the account because I thought it would allow me to reverify on my other edu email. When I saw this wasn’t possible I recreated the account (which I had previously deleted) that previously had the edu plan and the educational plan was no longer there. Since the verification limit can’t be reset by SheerID, I’m currently stuck with no way to re-verify on either of my edu accounts.

Hey ​@Tom Reem . The issue has been fixed for almost 2 weeks now since we last spoke. Not sure who did it but I have the education plan and it’s not on this account but my other edu email which is honestly better. If possible can you close this case. Don’t want to mess anything up since it’s currently fixed on my end! Thanks again for helping
