My education plan on Figma expired, so I upgraded to a professional plan assuming it would give me access to my Figma files again, but they are still locked and telling me to request permission… Who am I asking permission to? They’re my files. I would appreciate help with this as I need the content of these files right now.

That does seem odd—if you're the owner of the files, you should have editing access.
