Hi.
I’m currently participating in a online bootcamp/school.
The bootcamp admins asked for re-verification for all of us students but it’s still in the proces from Figma’s side. (Same as support tickets from the teachers)
I tried to submit a support ticket myself, but was told to write here as I’m a student and don’t have a paid plan yet, so no direct support for me 😥

The problem:
Some of us students have warning that the education status has expired just on the left panel, some of us have it in yellow at the top panel and I myself and few other students are fully "locked" out of our homeworks and can only view thgem without being ablet do rest of them on time to get our marks.  We have last 10 days of our bootcamp and can’t finish it.

Is there any way how to sort that kind of a problem?
Thanks~

Hey @Katerina_Skramuska , Celine from Figma here. Happy to help!
I know the Education verification process can sometimes be a bit unclear, so here’s a quick breakdown of how the Education verification process works:

  • If you’re part of an online bootcamp: I confirm that no action is needed on your end as a student. The administrator of your bootcamp or course will verify your account on your behalf and share any updates with you.

  • If you’re studying at a higher education institution (for example, a university), you’ll need to apply directly at figma.com/education/apply (using your school-issued email address, selecting Higher Ed as the institution type, and completing the SheerID verification process.)

For more details, you can check out our full guide here: Figma for Education.

Hope this clarifies!

Hi. You can temporarily move your files in Drafts until your team has only one project and three files remaining. Once your team is reduced to these limits, it will be unlocked, and you can continue to edit your files under the Starter plan.

It’s not possible as it is 20 students by 10 homeworks :(

Hi.
As I wrote above the administration of our bootcamps submitted the verification on our behalf (all the students) in the timeframe that was given. But unfortunately there is some bug (?) and some of us students have warning that the education status has expired just on the left panel, some of us have it in yellow at the top panel and I myself and few other students are fully "locked" and the bootcamp administration is not getting answers from Figma team side. That’s why I wrote myself.
So no sorry, it doesn’t clarify anything and it feels just like a bot message copied from a script without looking at the actual problem 😭

It’s not possible as it is 20 students by 10 homeworks :(

Are all students working with shared files, or is everyone working with their own personal files? If the second one, each student can try to duplicate the files from the locked team into their own free team and continue working there.

In the end it helped to writing here. Was verified 5min ago as student 😅

Hey again Katerina, thank you for the clarification, and I’m really sorry for the earlier confusion!

I completely understand your point now. In my earlier message, I was explaining the difference between the two classroom types (online bootcamp vs. higher education) because I initially thought you were trying to verify yourself your Education status yourself as an individual student (which is only possible for higher education students), instead of waiting for your bootcamp administrator to complete the verification with Figma, since the Figma team hasn’t responded to them yet.

I’ve checked on the backend, and I can confirm that your bootcamp has been verified by the Figma Education team. 🙂

As a quick note, this isn’t a bug for anyone seeing that warning. It’s expected behavior when the Education status needs to be re-verified. Some students may see a notice that their Education status has expired because their account was temporarily downgraded to the Starter plan. Once the bootcamp admin completes the re-verification with Figma, they’ll be able to re-verify their students and restore access to the Education plan.

For others who may encounter issues with the verification status, please check our guide: Troubleshooting verification.
I’ve gone ahead and marked as solved the topic here, thanks!
