Rui Batista

Hi,
We are currently migrating our company email domain from @brainr.co to @brainr.com and would like to understand the recommended process for updating the email address(es) on our account(s).
Could you advise on the following:

  1. Is it possible to update the email address directly on the existing account, or does a new account need to be created?
  2. If the account was created via Google SSO, is there a specific process to follow to avoid losing data or history?
  3. Is this something we can do self-serve, or does it require assistance from your support team?
  4. Are there any steps we should take before making the change to ensure a smooth transition?

Thank you,

Hey Rui - thanks for checking in with this.

You should be able to self-serve a change and not have to create a new account. See here: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039820114-Manage-email-address-or-password#h_01JEVJ50Q0HSGHAPE0BZ0Y04ZZ

If your email address and password are Managed by Google, you can't update them in Figma directly. If you want to change the email associated with your account, you'll need to remove Google SSO first.

To remove Google SSO, you need to request and set a new password on the account. This allows you log in with your email address and unique password directly instead via Google. Once updated, you can change the email to any address.

Running that process should not cause data loss -- just make sure you and your team don’t accidentally create a new account with the new email domain while making the change.

If you have trouble with this, let me know!
