Critical bug: design disappeared with version history

I lost all of yesterday afternoon’s and this morning’s work across a large file, and there’s no version history recorded for those hours. Is there any way to recover updates from that specific time?

When I was working in Figma, my network connection was stable and I didn’t see any offline changes message, which makes it really strange that a chunk of my work just vanished.

It has all gone with no way of recovering it. I even had prototype comments from users and stake-holders which have also been lost.

Hey @Mason_Cook1, thanks for flagging this!

I can't look into account or file specifics here on the forum for security reasons, so here's what I'd recommend:

  1. Reach out to our support team through our support hub so they can securely access your account and file details. .
  2. Share the file with support-share@figma.com at "Can view" access, that lets our team check what's happening on the backend.
  3. A couple of details that'll speed things up once you're in touch with support:
    • Were you working in the browser or the Desktop app when you noticed the content was gone?
    • Roughly what time did you last see the file with the missing content, and what timezone are you in?

For reference, here's how version history is supposed to work. Figma checkpoints every 30 minutes, so a several-hour gap with nothing recorded is unusual and worth flagging for investigation.

I can't promise a specific outcome here, but I want to make sure this gets in front of the right team.
