Couldn't load make

Joanne Morgan

Hi,

I’m currently unable to access figma make. It was fine on Wednesday last week but from Thursday I have been getting the message “couldn’t load make”. I have reached out to our IT to check that none of the domains had been blocked and they are fine. I also tried check network settings and that said I had access to the domains I need to run figma. I’m also unable to get it loaded in chrome but it does work in firefox.

Please could someone have a look at this or let me know if I have some sort of issue on my end?
Thanks,

Joanne

I have the same problem. Browser (chrome) works just fine. In the desktop app the preview fails to load and gives the error “Couldn't load Make” and Live preview failed.

Works again for me.

Hey @Joanne Morgan, thanks for reaching out!

The detail that it works in Firefox but not in Chrome is really useful. Given that the domain access checks have come back clean, this is most likely something specific to your Chrome environment rather than a network or account issue.

A few things to try first:

  1. Clear Chrome's cache and cookies, go to Chrome settings > Privacy and security > Clear browsing data, and select "All time."
  2. Open Chrome in incognito mode, this temporarily disables extensions. If Figma Make loads there, an extension is likely interfering.
  3. Try a different Chrome profile, sometimes profile-level data can cause unexpected behaviour.
  4. Check Chrome is fully up to date, go to Chrome menu > Help > About Google Chrome.

If none of those help, it'd be great to know:

  • Which version of Chrome you're on
  • Whether you're accessing Figma Make through the Chrome browser, the Figma desktop app, or both (the desktop app also runs on Chromium, so this could be relevant)
  • Any error messages showing in the Chrome console (you can open it with F12 > Console tab) when the load fails

You can find more guidance on network and browser requirements in our Figma system requirements article.

And @Software_development - really glad it resolved for you, and thanks for looping back to let us know!

Thanks for the reply. I tried all of the steps you suggested and it didn’t work. However, when I logged on this morning, it was working properly again.
