Copy & Paste frames are not working in Figma Make

I tried reproducing it just now: copied a frame from a Design file into a Make file, prompted it to change the color palette, and it worked as expected. I’d like to find out if what's happening is specific to your setup or your designs. I you’re up for it, please reply with some more details and I’ll keep chasing this down.

Could you walk me through your exact steps? Things that would help:

• Where you're copying from, and how (Cmd/Ctrl+C on canvas, or right-click → Copy?)
• Where you're pasting (the prompt box in a new Make file, or an existing one)?
• What's in the frame (is it content-heavy, lots of images or vector illustrations, or does it use components from a shared library)?
• Whether it's every source design file (or just certain ones)?
• Also, I know you said it’s been a while, though do you and your team recall a more specific timeframe when it started?

With that, I can try to reproduce it on my end, then escalate. If I can't, the next step is a Customer Support request with a short screen recording and the file shared to support-share@figma.com with view access.

Thanks for looking into this.

Here are some additional details:

• I'm typically copying the frame directly from the design canvas using Cmd/Ctrl+C and then pasting it into the prompt box of a new Make file.
• I've also tried pasting into existing Make files, but the result is the same.
• The frames are generally not very heavy or complex. They don't contain a large number of images or vector illustrations, but they do use components from a shared library.
• From what I've observed, the issue doesn't appear to be limited to a specific workflow, as I consistently get the same error when attempting to paste frames into Make.
• As for timing, I would estimate that this started around 3–4 weeks ago. Several of my coworkers have been experiencing the same issue during that period as well.

Please let me know if there are any other details that would help with reproducing the issue. I appreciate your help in investigating this.

The library components detail is interesting to me, but I want to be careful as it doesn't appear to be a limitation. I would like to understand if it makes a difference in what you're seeing though. Could you try this? 👉🏻 Duplicate one of the frames that's failing, detach the instances in the copy (right-click → Detach instance), and paste that into Make. If the detached copy attaches fine while the original doesn't, that's a clue and gives our team something concrete to chase.

The mid-July timing and the fact that your coworkers are all affected is useful too — that pattern points to something worth reviewing internally.

Either way, I'll go ahead and submit a request with the Customer Support team now rather than wait. If you can check your inbox for a message from me associated with case number: 2061460, and include a short recording, the error ID (if possible) and a file where this is happening, it'll help us investigate further.

1. Are you still running into this? And did the detach test change anything (pasting a copy of the frame with its instances detached)?
