For this week I tried coping a group of text styles and colour styles from a file but i always get the”Copy Failed. Your selection might be too large for the clipboard”  error so i tried it for a single text style and the same error was displayed and i did the same for a single colour style and i still couldn’t copy the style
this is a huge problem for me can anyone help me with a fix for it?

Thank you for confirming, @viid and @FarshadY — and I have some more good news!

The engineering team deployed the fix for this issue and we've confirmed that copying and pasting is working as expected. If you haven't already, please refresh the tab you're working in and you should be all set.

Thank you again for your reports and for helping us identify this issue. If anything else comes up, don't hesitate to reach out. 🙏🏻

Hey hey @badinku 👋 That error popping up definitely not what should happen.

A couple things that'll help me pin this down:

  • Could you send a quick screen recording of the steps you're taking, from selecting the style through the copy attempt? Specifically: are you right-clicking the style in the Styles panel and choosing "Copy style" (or using Ctrl/Cmd+C there), or are you selecting a layer/object and copying that?
  • What OS and are you on the desktop app or in browser?

One thing worth checking in the meantime — copying a style itself works a bit differently than copying an object that has a style applied to it. Here's the doc on the intended flow

Thanks for the additional info! — Jaycee

Hi @FarshadY, thanks for weighing in with that information. I tested this out and it worked as expected on my end. In my case, I'm running Figma Desktop App version 126.6.14 on macOS 26.5.2 — the closest I could get to what you reported.

Can you check for any pending updates to your OS and the Figma Desktop App, then give it another try?

If it's still happening, please let me know and share a screen recording of the issue if possible. That'll help us escalate it for further review.

Thanks for your collaboration here, everyone — we'll keep an eye out for further reports.

Hi, @Tom Reem
Thank you for your response.

As you suggested, I upgraded my macOS to 26.5.2 (25F84) and my Figma Desktop app to 26.6.14, but the issue still persists.
I also tested the same issue in the Figma Beta Desktop app, and the problem occurs there as well.
Figma Beta Desktop App version 126.8.2

As shown in the attached screenshots, even in a new document with only a single style defined, I get this error as soon as I try to copy the style.

On Figma Desktop

On Figma Beta

Hey @FarshadY, thank you so much for taking the time to confirm and test further. Appreciate you grabbing the screenshots too, that's super helpful.

I still haven't been able to reproduce this on my end, but I want to make sure it gets a closer look. I've just sent you an email with next steps for sharing file access securely, which will let our Technical Quality team dig in and escalate appropriately.

Please check your inbox for a message from me associated with case number: 2022852. We'll take it from there.

And to everyone following along on this thread — please keep us posted on any changes you're seeing. 🙏🏻

Hi,

Whenever I copy an element from a frame (screen), pasting it will paste that element in the same frame, even if I click somewhere totally different. If I don’t select a frame to paste it in, that’s what happens. It’s insanely annoying, I wanna paste it on the canvas, at a big distance from the frame I copied it from, I think it was posible in the past, too bad it’s no longer the case. Extremely annoying.
Thanks

Hi @Tom Reem
Thank you very much to you and the technical team for your continued support.

The copy-paste method using the keyboard shortcut works, and I think it's a very effective temporary workaround until the issue is fully resolved.
