"Copy Design" button in Figma Make gets stuck on a spinner after the first use

Hi everyone:

I'm experiencing a persistent bug when using the "Make Designs" (AI) feature. When I generate multiple screens, the "Copy Design" button only works the first time.

If I try to copy a second or third screen from the same generation session, the button gets stuck showing the "Copying..." spinner indefinitely. To fix it and copy another design, I am forced to refresh the entire tab/session, which is quite frustrating when trying to move several screens to a Figma Design file.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Generate a set of designs using Figma Make.

  2. Click "Copy Design" on any screen (it works fine).

  3. Try to click "Copy Design" on a different screen or even the same one again.

  4. The button stays in the "Copying..." state and never finishes.

Environment:

  • Platform: Windows desktop app

Has anyone else found a workaround for this that doesn't involve refreshing the page every time? Thanks in advance!

Hi @ENCAMINA 👋

Dave here from Figma’s community support team, really sorry to hear you’re running into issues with Figma Make.

If it’s getting stuck on a spinner, a few things you can try:

  • Click Refresh preview at the top of the preview
  • Refresh the page and prompt the model again
  • Duplicate the Figma Make file and try prompting in the copy
  • Check for any large files and reduce or remove them if needed
  • If you’ve hit rate limits, give it a bit of time before trying again

If it’s still happening after that, it’d be best to report it so the team can take a closer look. When you do, try to include as much detail as possible to help with the investigation:

  • Go to the Support Hub
  • Type “Report a bug”
  • Click Start a chat and press Enter
  • Then fill out the form

Hope this helps get things moving again 👍

Hi Dave,

Thanks for your quick response! I really appreciate the help.

I’ve tried the steps you mentioned, but unfortunately, refreshing the page or the preview after every single copy is exactly the friction I’m trying to avoid. Since I need to move 10+ screens to a Design file, refreshing and re-prompting isn't efficient, especially as the model might generate different results each time.

It seems like a specific bug where the clipboard/buffer gets stuck after the first successful action. I will follow your advice and report it via the Support Hub with all the details so the team can look into this.

Thanks again for your time! 👍
