In the latest Figma version, when I use a layout guide in the parent, sometimes child elements' constraints do not work. It suddenly work and suddenly does not

Hi @RAXZ2 AST 👋 Thanks for flagging this! I can definitely see how that behavior would be confusing. It’s hard to say exactly what’s happening without a few more details, and we can dig in together.

In the meantime, let’s take a look at a few things that might be causing the hiccup in your file:

  • Check the parent frame's layout guide settings - open the guide settings on the parent and confirm whether it's set to Stretch or Fixed (sometimes this is the culprit)

  • . A child tucked two levels deep might be reacting to a guide on its direct parent that you didn't realize was there.

  • Auto layout vs. constraints - keep an eye out for a mix of these two

  • Confirm you're using layout guides - make sure you're looking at layout guides and not the auto layout grid feature

If those don’t do the trick, feel free to share screenshots of your layout and include the full sidebar with options (parent guide type, child constraints, and what's happening on resize). I’d love to help you pinpoint exactly what’s biting you so we can get you back to making. — Jaycee
