Question

Components are shown as Unpublished After Publishing them

Hi,

I’m working on a large project in Figma and have been encountering an issue for several days that I can’t seem to resolve.

Certain components are not being published (it’s always the same ones). I can click the Publish button, and the process appears to start. After some time, it shows that the publication is complete. However, when I select the same component again, the Publish button is still visible, as if it was never published.

I’ve tried recreating these components, but the problem persists. I also checked all nested components, thinking it might be a dependency issue. Everything inside is correctly named (no duplicates), and all those components are published and up to date in the library.

Do you have any suggestions on how to fix this? I was ready to give up and rebuild them, but since the same issue keeps happening, I’m completely stuck.

I have the same issue. It's pretty awful when your daily work consists of working on design systems.

Same problem here. Some components (not all) do not update when published. It is impossible to work with component libraries like this at the moment.

Hey All, thanks for reaching out and apologies for the delayed reply!

This can occur when you have corrupted instances (e.g., empty or missing layers). To check if this is the case, please try using the "Repair component connections" command.

This command fetches the most updated version of the main component without needing to republish again manually. Please note that you may want to use with caution if your instances have dependencies; you can try testing in a duplicate file first.

If the command does not resolve the issue, try making a small change to the main component and republishing to see if that helps.

Let me know how it goes, and we can continue troubleshooting together, if needed.

Hi,

Thanks for your response. Unfortunately, neither of your suggested solutions works in my case.

Even if I make obvious changes to the component, the updated version is not published. The “Publish changes” button for this specific component does not disappear after clicking it.

What does work is copying the component into the desired file. However, as soon as it is there, the “Update available” option appears on the instance. When clicked, the instance reverts to its old state. So this does not seem to be a viable solution either.

Hi @Andreas_Butler, thanks for following up and for explaining what you’re seeing in more detail.
Given that the workaround isn’t helping and the Publish changes button isn’t clearing as expected, this does sound like something our team should investigate more closely. The next step would be for us to look directly at the file and try to reproduce the behavior on our side.

I’ll send you a DM with instructions on how to reach out to Support through a secure form so the team can take a deeper look. Thank you 🙏🏼
