Color Picker Not Working / Bug

Reproduced in Browser version

Flow

  1. Create new draft
  2. Add text ( or any ) block to the page
  3. Click on empty space on page and open color picker
  4. With color picker open, click on text ( or any block you created )
  5. You will see color picker opened and broken.
    - Colors are not changing
    - Cannot be closed with "x" icon in the header
    - Lack of settings ( like linear colors, etc )

Hey ​@Yaroslav Raksha, thank you for taking the time to share the exact steps. I followed them on Chrome and was able to reproduce the issue exactly as you described. The colour picker gets stuck open, the “X” doesn’t close it, and the colour options don’t update.

I’ve passed all of this along to our team internally so they can investigate. I’ll keep you updated as soon as I hear more. Appreciate your patience in the meantime!

I also wanted to share a quick personal experience while trying to report a bug. 😅

When you search “Figma report a bug,” the first article suggests submitting the report through the Support Contact page. But that page leads to an AI bot — and it doesn’t accept bug reports.

Then I tried going through the question mark icon in the Figma app and selected Contact Support (which is also suggested by that article), but it opened the same AI bot again, which still couldn’t take the report.

Eventually, I discovered the forum by my own and submitted it here.

So just a small suggestion: improving the UI and flow for reporting bugs would make the process a lot clearer and less frustrating for users.
Also… if Figma ever needs someone who really knows how to find the maze entrance, I’m available. 😂

Hey ​@Yaroslav Raksha, I’m sorry for the delayed response.

I tried walking the team through the steps you shared, but I’m not seeing the same behaviour on my end anymore. When I click on empty space, the colour picker closes as expected, and I can only reopen it by selecting the text layer again. Please do take a look at my screen recording and let me know if I am missing out a step. 

And thank you for sharing your feedback about the bug-reporting flow. I’ve passed this along to the relevant teams so they can review the experience.

Just to double-check, when you type “report a bug” into the AI bot, you should be shown a form to fill out. I’ve attached a screenshot of what that looks like:
 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Could you try entering “report a bug” again and let me know if the form appears for you this time?

Hey ​@Yaroslav Raksha, apologies for the delayed response and thank you again for taking the time to share the screen recordings and detailed explanation! 

Just to clarify on my side: earlier on, I was able to reproduce similar behaviour, which I mentioned in my first reply, the colour picker staying open, the “X” not closing it, and the colour options not updating. However, after testing again, I’m no longer seeing this issue. At the moment, the picker consistently closes when I click outside of it or select text. I’ve tested in Chrome and can’t reproduce it there anymore. Check my screen recording

I’ve reached out internally once again to double-check. The team has also tested and confirmed they’re unable to reproduce the behaviour on their end. Could you please check whether Chrome is fully up to date and see if the issue still occurs after restarting your browser? If you’re still this, can you also check if this is happening in a different browser (Figma also supports Firefox, Safari, and Microsoft Edge) or in the Figma desktop app? 

 

Regarding your feedback on the bug reporting flow. For context, Starter and Education accounts currently receive direct support here in the Support Forum. If you’re on a Professional, Organization, or Enterprise plan, you can access the Support Hub using the email associated with your account.
