Cloudflare 1000 error when publishing a Figma Site to a custom domain

Hi,

We have been working towards using Figma Sites to publish, for the first time in our company, an external-facing website. It is to support our advertising proposition and can be found at ads.justeattakeaway.com.

However at that url we are seeing a Cloudflare Error 1000 error message.

Our internal technical teams are telling us that the Cloudflare issue isn't on our side because we have already set our proxy status for this domain to DNS Only (grey cloud).

Cloudflare's official documentation (at this page https://developers.cloudflare.com/support/troubleshooting/http-status-codes/cloudflare-1xxx-errors/error-1000/) says, of the error message we're getting, "Your DNS record points to a SaaS provider that uses Cloudflare for SaaS with BYOIP (Bring Your Own IP). Because the provider's IP addresses are advertised through Cloudflare's network, requests resolve to Cloudflare infrastructure. If the provider has not configured a custom hostname for your domain, this error is returned."

And the resolution they prescribe is:

"If your domain points to a SaaS provider that uses Cloudflare, contact the SaaS provider to verify that a custom hostname is properly configured for your domain. The error originates from the provider's Cloudflare account, not yours."

Can you help please?

Thanks 🙏

Hey there! Celine from the Community Support team at Figma here. Thanks for the detailed report and for including the additional context from Cloudflare.

As a first step, I'd recommend reviewing this Help Center article, which walks through the requirements for configuring a custom domain with Figma Sites: Manage a custom domain for your site.

If you're still running into the issue after checking those steps, it looks like this may require a closer investigation. In that case, please submit a bug report through the Support Hub: Go to the Support Hub / Type “Report a bug, contact agent” / Click Start a chat and select Enter and follow the prompts.

When you submit the report, please include the details you've shared here and these details:

  • The URL of the affected Figma Site.
  • The custom domain you're trying to use (ads.justeattakeaway.com).
  • Confirmation that your DNS records are currently set to DNS only (not proxied).
  • A screenshot of your current DNS configuration (if you're able to share it).
  • Any additional details from your IT team that may help with reproducing the issue.

Our team will review the configuration and investigate whether there's anything on the Figma Sites side that needs attention. Thanks for your patience!

Thanks Celine. I went through the diagnostic steps with your customer support, but it didn’t resolve the issue, so I’ve raised a bug ticket (number 2052503).
