Changed my uni education account email to personal email. Will my files still be there? My account says it’ll downgrade to a free account in a few days since my education status got revoked after the email change.

Will i need to start paying for professional figma account once my education account expires to still be able to edit my files?

Thanks

Hey @Annika Yi, thanks for reaching out!

You’re right that your education status is tied to the email you verified with, so changing it to a personal email will remove the education status.

The good news is: your files will still be there after your account moves to the free Starter plan, nothing gets deleted.

That said, there are a few limitations on the free plan to keep in mind:
• You can only have 3 design files per project (and similar limits for FigJam, Slides, etc.)
• If you’re over those limits, you’ll still see your files, but you won’t be able to edit them unless you reduce the number

To keep working on your files without upgrading, you can:
• Move important files into your Drafts
• Reduce the number of files/projects to stay within the limits
• Move files to another team if that helps organize things

If you’d prefer not to worry about those limits, upgrading to a Professional plan will let you continue working without restrictions. You can still reapply for the education status in the meantime: https://www.figma.com/education/apply

Hope this helps!
