Cant measure distances

Problem:
 


Hi,
I can no longer see the distance between elements when I select one and hold down the Option key (on Mac) while hovering over another.

I tried all the recommendation solution from previous issue (searching on this forum) but the issue still there

I completely understand how this must be slowing down your workflow. I just tested this in a Figma Design file in the desktop app and using the browser, and it is working as expected on my end.

Are you still having issues measuring distances between layers? If so, with a few more details, I can flag this over to the team to investigate further. Is this happening in all of your files or one file in particular? Are you using Figma in the browser or the desktop app?

Please let me know, and we can continue troubleshooting together.

I’ve been seeing this condition when using the Figma Beta macOS app. I would restart the app and it would work okay for a bit before starting to not show the measurement.

I swapped back to the Figma production macOS app and haven’t had the issue re-occur over the past couple of hours.

it happened to all my files, im using figma desktop app macos version, tried on the web also face the issue
i check with some of my friends that using figma is also encountered this issue

Thanks for following up, ​@dwchy, and for chiming in here, ​@David. 

Is this happening in the latest version of the beta desktop app for you both? 126.3.0 is the latest version. 


I previously tested with the regular desktop app, not the beta app, which may explain why it worked for me previously. But I just had to update my Beta Desktop App now, measuring distances is working again as expected.

I have the same problem, but only the elements in the slot cannot measure spacing.

Just to make sure I’m understanding correctly, you are trying to measure the distance between two layers within a slot? I tested this by doing the following and was able to measure distance, but I want to make sure I’m replicating the same measurement as you:

  1. Added a frame to the canvas.
  2. Added two separate text layers on top of the rectangle.
  3. Converted all three into a component.
  4. Selected both text layers, right-clicked, then chose the option to wrap in a slot.
  5. Selected on text layer within the slot, held down Option (Alt on Windows), then hovered over the other text element.

 

For me, this brought up a line between the two showing the distance. Let me know if you’re doing something different and we can go from there.
