Cannot use numerical emojis 1️⃣ 2️⃣ 3️⃣

This should be an error, as it was working fine before.

I understand that those keycap emojis aren't showing up on your canvas the way you expect them to.

I checked our system, and it looks like this is a long-standing bug that our engineers are already aware of.

While it's not ideal, a workaround you can try is importing those emojis as an image. There are also many emoji packs created by our community members that you can use: Results for emoji pack

To help in any small way I can, I've added your post to the existing report. Hopefully, this will help get this issue more attention.  Also, since you mentioned that these Keycap emojis used to display correctly, if you remember any details about when or how they used to work, please let us know.

We frequently use number emojis in our designs, but they seem to have stopped rendering correctly in Figma (Design). I’ve tried restarting Figma, but the problem persists.

Any suggestions?

Hi ​@ThibaudM, thanks for following up about this issue! 

I understand how disruptive this can be, but our team is still working through how to fix this issue. To share a bit more of the "why": keycap emojis like 1️⃣ aren't a single character, they're a digit plus a variation selector plus a keycap. Figma Design currently doesn't apply that variation selector, so you get the plain digit instead of the emoji.

Our engineers have made progress towards a fix for this, but I don't have a timeline to share yet. I've added your report to the team’s existing ticket, so it carries more weight in prioritization. In the meantime, two temporary solutions that have held up well:

• Paste the emoji as an image (screenshot or export from your OS emoji picker), so it renders exactly as intended
• Use a Community emoji pack; several include number sets you can drop straight into a design

Last questions that may help the team: Are you running into this in Figma Design, FigJam, or Slides? And is this in text layers, layer names, or both? Knowing exactly where it bites you most helps us scope the impact.

I’ll be waiting for a fix, as I’d prefer an actual unicode Emoji in my system !

I’m running into this is in Figma Design (but I see it happens as well in FigJam).
I’ve been willing to insert them in text components, and in Section and Pages names as well.
