Hello Figma Support team,

I’m experiencing a persistent issue with my Figma account. I cannot create new design files or open existing design files in the browser. The page keeps loading indefinitely, and when I try to create a new file, I see a red toast message: “Failed to fetch.”

However, Figma Home and Community pages can still load normally.

Affected account:
Email: (redacted by the moderator due to PII)
Workspace / Team: 慧联运创新物流中心

Affected file:
TMS调度端运单模块高保真图
https://www.figma.com/design/E2aAQp39s99QLERjfqCb5F/TMS%E8%B0%83%E5%BA%A6%E7%AB%AF%E8%BF%90%E5%8D%95%E6%A8%A1%E5%9D%97%E9%AB%98%E4%BF%9D%E7%9C%9F%E5%9B%BE

Observed behavior:

  • Opening existing design files keeps loading indefinitely.
  • Creating a new design file fails and shows “Failed to fetch.”
  • Recent files and file editor pages do not load correctly.
  • Figma Community pages and templates can still be opened.
  • The issue happens in the browser, not only in the desktop app.

Context:
Last week, I used Codex with Figma MCP to create or modify content in a Figma file. During that process, the MCP tool returned a rate limit / quota exceeded error. After that, I started experiencing this issue where the browser cannot create or open design files.

I’m not sure whether the MCP rate limit is directly related, but the timing seems correlated. Could you please check whether my account, workspace, file permissions, backend session, MCP quota state, or any editing-related service token is stuck or restricted?

Troubleshooting already tried:

  1. Verified that the Education account is active again.
  2. Tried Chrome and Edge.
  3. Tried normal mode and private/incognito mode.
  4. Cleared Figma cookies, cache, localStorage, and site data.
  5. Tried different networks, including mobile hotspot.
  6. Tried with VPN, without VPN, global proxy mode, TUN mode, and different nodes.
  7. Tried both existing files and creating a new blank design file.
  8. Confirmed that Figma Community pages can load normally.

Expected behavior:
I should be able to create a new design file and open existing design files normally.

Request:
Could you please check and reset any backend account/session/workspace/file editing state if needed? In particular, please check whether there are any restrictions or stale states related to MCP rate limit, Education workspace activation, file editing permission, or design file creation.

I have attached screenshots showing:

  1. The “Failed to fetch” error when creating a new file.
  2. The file editor stuck on the loading screen.
  3. The previous MCP rate-limit message from Codex.

Hi @mengyan ,  Celine from the Community Support team at Figma here, thanks for the detailed report, the context around the MCP rate limit is really helpful!

I can see you've already gone through an extensive list of troubleshooting steps, and since none of those made a difference, this points to something that needs a deeper investigation on our end. I've gone ahead and created a support ticket on your behalf (case number #1951354) and sent it to your email address: xixxxdi@ouxxxk.xxm. Please reply directly to that email with any additional details our team may need (such as your OS, browser version, and the screenshots you mentioned) so they can investigate as quickly as possible. Thanks for your patience! 🙏
