Question

Can't verify my educator plan

I have tried many times to verify my educator account, however, after two trials it now always says that I have exceeded my limit for applying for education plan.  I tried different work emails, and I have contacted SheerID a few times. I also provided screenshots of my teaching assistant profile and a screenshot of our class in Canvas, but  all my communications ended in:

“We were unable to process your verification request. While we can't offer further details or support for this specific inquiry, please ensure all information submitted is accurate and meets the eligibility criteria for future attempts. Your ticket has now been permanently closed.”

Hey @Irina Danilovafrom what you’ve described, it sounds like you may be hitting the “Verification Limit Exceeded” state. The verification attempts are fully managed by SheerID, which is why they’re typically the only team that can reset or clear that lock. Unfortunately, Figma isn’t able to manually review documents or override eligibility directly on our side.

That said, since you’ve already contacted SheerID and your ticket was closed without a resolution, the best next step is to reach out to education@figma.com. The Education team can review your situation more closely, help explain what options are available, and escalate internally if appropriate. When you reach out, including screenshots and a short timeline of what you’ve already tried can really help speed things along.

Once you’ve contacted the Education team, feel free to share your support ticket number here. I’m happy to help escalate it internally and ask the team to take a closer look as soon as possible.

Thank you for your help!

Hello @Gayani_S!

I am a TA for the same UX Engineering course at Harvard Extension School as @Irina Danilova and @JaneFL. To get verified, I’ve tried:

-Verifying my Figma education with two different approved documents using my school-issued email

-Reaching out to SheerID for assistance
-Contacting education@figma.com directly
-Posting on the Figma Forum for help (see link below)

I’ve had no luck in getting my account verified yet and our class started yesterday, January 26th. Is there any way you could help me escalate this internally? Thank you so much

Gayani,

I’ve sent a few emails to education@figma.com and I haven’t heard back from them. We’ve been in touch with SheerID support team and they told us they have no ability to help and only Figma can help us to resolve this issue. We now have teachers and students - with Harvard-issues email addresses and also with personal email addresses - who are unable to verify their education status despite being legitimate students and sending proof of enrollment. So far we’re going in circles with SheerID pointing at Figma and Figma pointing to SheerID. How can we escalate this issue to someone who can help us?

Hi @Sarah_Emigh and @JaneFL — Tom here, stepping in for @Gayani_S today. Thanks for flagging this and sorry to hear about the trouble caused by the email account timing.

With the latest update to our verification process, a school-issued email address is now required to complete education verification. For the most up-to-date requirements and latest developments, you can refer to: Figma for Education → Verify your education status.

That said, I do want to make sure both of you are connected with our Education Team for a deeper review:

  • @Sarah_Emigh — I wasn’t able to locate an existing case tied to your Forum account, so I’ve opened a new ticket on your behalf. Please check your inbox for an email from me with your case number: 1711974.
  • @JaneFL — I was able to find your existing ticket under case number: 1705471.

I’ve added your Forum posts to each case so the team has full context as they review. They’ll follow up with you directly at the email address associated with your Forum account as soon as they have more information to share. Please keep an eye out for their message.
