Can't Update Email

Currently my figma account is linked to my school email account, but I need to change it to my personal email before my school email is eventually deleted. The whole process goes smoothly, I get the confirmation email, I click “confirm email”, and then it says that I can’t update my email because it’s already taken, but the “email” they say is taken is just random letters and obviously not my email.
