Hi!

I’ve run into Connection Error 118 when I was trying to rum Figma Desktop App. I still can work from Firefox. But Chrome also doesn’t respond. I’ve tried cleaning cache and rebooting router but none of these worked.

Can you give some advice how to fix this?

Hi @saturdaygrace, thanks for reaching out!

Connection Error 118 is usually related to a problem with your internet connection or a server issue, but it can also be caused by firewall restrictions, outdated software, or network configuration problems.

That said, if you're using a firewall, proxy, or Virtual Private Network (VPN), we recommend you ask your IT department or systems administrator to unblock Port 443. This is the standard port for websites that are run over SSL (Secure Sockets Layer).

If that doesn't seem to be the cause of the issue, here are some other steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue:

  • Check your internet connection: Make sure your device is connected to the internet and that there are no issues with your connection. It may help to connect to a different network (i.e. mobile hotspot) to see if this solves the problem.
  • Restart your router: Sometimes, simply restarting your router can resolve connection issues. To do this, unplug your router from the power outlet and wait a few seconds before plugging it back in.
  • Restore your Firewall to its default settings: This has helped many others in the past.
  • Flush your DNS cache: Flushing your DNS cache can help resolve issues with your internet connection.
  • Check if there are any issues with your browser: You can try using a different browser to see if the issue persists. You can also try clearing your browser cache and cookies.
  • Check for any browser extensions or plugins that may be causing the issue and try disabling them.
  • Check if there are any issues with your antivirus or firewall software. You can try temporarily disabling these programs to see if they are causing the issues as well.
