Hey Figma team/community,

I've just started using the new Figma Slides and was really excited to convert our whole company over to it, but I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure out how to present my slides on mobile without all the UI stuff getting in the way. This feels like it should be super basic, but I can't find a clean presentation mode for mobile anywhere.

Here's what I've tried:

Browser on mobile: The navigation bar is always there. Can't get rid of it. (I’ve tried “Hide Toolbar” option from the Safari menu, however it still displays the url and black and white columns either side and still looks messy)

Mobile app: Here I can go fullscreen which is great, BUT there's this checkerboard pattern on the sides (like when you see transparency in design apps). I can’t have it look like this during presentations. If this was just black, it'd be perfect. Am I missing a background color setting somewhere?

iPad app: Same checkerboard issue, plus I can't hide the top bar of the app.

Figma app Mirroring: This is not really an option as I will need to bring the presentation with me without being tethered to a laptop.

The weird thing is, regular Figma Design has a “View Prototype” option that almost works But Figma Slides... doesn't? That can't be right? (Even so, the presentation fills out to the edges of the phone and cuts off the top and bottom of the slide, so can’t use this as is).

This is very frustrating, I present work to clients on my phone and iPad all the time. I need to be able to pull up my slides offline, hit present, and have them look professional - no UI, no weird backgrounds, just the slides. This is a bit of a dealbreaker for us, all we really need is a full presentation mode where the UI disappears letting the content shine.

The simplest solution I can see here that would make this work for us is to replace the transparency checkerboard in the figma app with a black colour instead.

The way Keynote app presents is a prefect example of what I’m talking about, full page, no fuss, tap/swipe left or right on the screen to go back and forth. Is there a setting in Figma I'm missing? Or is this genuinely not possible right now? Would love to know if anyone else has figured this out or if the team can add this to the roadmap ASAP. I’lm dying to make Figma Slides work for us, but this very basic functionality is getting in the way of us adopting it right now!

Thank you.

Hey @Bjorn-Erik Aschim, thanks for the feedback!

I flagged this to our Slides team, and for most, these are current limitations caused by iOS/Safari.

Currently, in Figma Slides, we lock the aspect ratio of a slide to fit the height dimensions, so it can't span the entire width of the phone. The checkered background is added by Safari. As a workaround, you can trying zooming; however, it may clip some content.

Our Slides team will take this feedback into consideration for future improvements.
