Can't interact with canvas, at least once a day, no ostensible pattern

I’ve seen another topic with a similar issue, but that was marked as solved because they found a workaround. I’m still looking for a real fix.

M5 Pro Mac, on Tahoe 26.5.2.
Wacom Intuos Pro, driver is current.

Currently only a full computer reboot resolves it, and who knows for how long.

Hi, @Jasmine Friedrich. Thanks for linking the other thread - it’s helpful for context. This is definitely not an ideal situation for you if you need to reboot to resolve the issue.

I have a few questions that will help provide some extra context for me:

  1. Are you using the desktop app or a web browser?
  2. When this happens, are you only seeing this with your Wacom or do you also see this with your mouse/trackpad?
  3. If you use a mouse and this is where you see the issue, is it a bluetooth mouse? I ask because I’ve seen behavior like this with my Apple Magic Mouse, but it wasn’t specific to Figma. Turning it off and back on would resolve the issue for me.

As an aside, there’s an update for Tahoe available - it’s worth updating to that if you can so we can rule out that it was something resolved with an OS update.

Thanks for checking in, @adamsmasher.

I primarily use the desktop app, but any time it happens and I’ve tried the web app as an alternative, that was also affected.

The trackpad doesn’t do any better, and I don’t have a mouse. The Wacom tablet is wired. I can still use keyboard controls if I manage to select something with Ctrl+Click, but I think that’s it.

I’ve noticed this on and off since last year, but it feels especially egregious lately. I find it a lot when I come back to Figma after working in another window for a while, but that I suspect that to be more of a result than a cause.

Strangely enough, it’s happening right now, and I can’t seem to interact with the vast majority of controls on this very site via cursor. Other sites are fine. I’ll have to navigate by keyboard to the Send button.

Ok. Thanks for the screen recordings! It’s interesting to see that it affects the forum for you as well, which makes me think it’s necessarily wholly unique to the canvas in Figma. Hmm… If you use CTRL and click, does that work? And after doing so, does it restore normal cursor functionality? Have you tried unplugging the tablet and plugging it back in? I’m wonder if that would reload the Wacom driver and reset the cursor, too.

Jasmine Friedrich

When I Ctrl+Click, it can let me select things but it’s squirrelly, and I get a context menu too with everything under my cursor. I think I’ve already tried screwing around with the tablet during an episode but I’ll confirm next time it comes up. 👍

Jasmine Friedrich

Nope, unplugging the tablet did not help for trackpad or tablet, and rebooting the tablet drivers did nothing.
