When I try to edit a comment on Community, I just get a blank box back.

Can't edit comment on community
Just gonna self reply (because i can’t edit) but whoever is in charge of rich text editing for community might want to do a deep debug because some bugs have been there for months.
A workaround is to paste your original content back into the field.
