Bug with Automatic slide total update in Figma Slides

When using the native “Slide number” component provided by Figma Slides, the page number is handled automatically. However, enabling the “Include total” option — which displays the format “current page / total slides” — introduces a problem. If new slides are added after the component has already been inserted, the total number of slides does not update automatically and remains stuck at the previous count.

The only workaround found is to manually toggle the “Include total” option OFF and then back ON. While this does refresh the total correctly, it becomes impractical when dealing with a large number of slides.

Hi @gabrimamo

I understand you're experiencing an issue where the Slide number isn't automatically updating the total number of slides when you add new ones.

I've tried to replicate this behavior on my end, but I haven't been able to. When I select "Slide number" from "Assets" in the toolbar and place it inside a slide, then add additional slide(s), the total count updates automatically for me.

If you haven't yet, could you give these quick fixes a shot?

  • Browser: Try force-quitting your current session and opening Figma in a brand new browser window.

  • Desktop App: Force-quit the Figma Desktop app and then restart it.

If the issue still persists after trying those steps, to help us understand it more, could you please confirm the following?

  • Is this happening only in your browser, only in the desktop app, or in both?

  • Is this issue happening in a specific slide deck, or are you seeing it across all your slide decks?

Please let us know how it goes. If needed, we'll connect you with the appropriate team for further help.

Thanks,
