Ingrid Lima

Hello, I'm reporting a persistent bug in Figma.

Issue: Unable to publish prototype updates via the Preview tab. Error Message: 'Something went wrong, reload and try again' (in red). Start Time: Dec 15, 2025 - 5:20 PM.

Troubleshooting steps I've already taken:

  • Refreshed the page;

  • Switched browsers and used Incognito mode;

  • Restarted both the app and the computer;

  • Duplicated the file and attempted to publish (the error happens in the new file as well).

Please let me know if you need any logs.

Hi @Ingrid Lima

It sounds like you're running into an issue when clicking “Update” in the Publish modal of your Figma Make file.

To clarify the requirements:

  • On the Starter plan, you can only publish to the public web by publishing your prototype or web app to the Figma Community.
  • To publish to the Community, you must have:
    • a Full seat, and
    • can edit access to the Figma Make file you’re publishing from.

I checked on our backend, and it looks like you’re currently on a free Starter plan with a View seat, so it appears that the requirements above are not met.

To cover the basics, please double-check your plan, seat type, and permissions on the file.

Here are some related articles that may help:

Once you’ve confirmed that you meet all the requirements and you’re still seeing the same issue, please share:

  • The URL of your Figma Make file
  • A recording or screenshots of the issue

This will help us understand the situation more clearly and determine the best next steps to support you.

Thanks,

@Junko3
Hello. I’m experiencing the same issue. I have a full seat on the Organization plan and have been using the Publish feature without any problems. However, at the moment, only a specific file cannot be published. What should I do in this case?

Hi @Yeahjin,

I checked on our end, and it looks like you currently have access to a Starter team (View) and a Professional team (Full).
So I assume you may be using a different account that has access to an Organization team, where you have a Full seat.
Just so you know, Figma plans are tied to teams, not individual users.

As mentioned earlier, first thing you can try is double-check the plan and seat type for the team where the problematic file is located, as well as your permissions on that file.

You may also want to check whether your Organization admin has managed. More details here: Manage web publishing for an organization

If you’re still facing the same issue after checking the above, I’d recommend submitting a support request through “Contact support” via the (?) icon in your Figma Make file.

The chatbot will walk you through opening a report with our team, so they can take a closer look and you’ll be able to talk with them directly. Here’s a guide you can refer to:  What to share in a bug report to Figma Support

Thanks,
