Issue Description: I am experiencing a consistent issue with the "Copy Design" button in Figma Make. After generating a design, clicking "Copy Design" and pasting it into the Figma canvas frequently results in a blank frame.

Details:

  • Reproducibility: Highly consistent (nearly 100% reproduction rate).

  • Success Rate: Only about 1 out of 20 attempts successfully pastes the design. The rest all result in empty frames.

  • Actual Result: An empty frame is pasted without any layers or content.

  • Expected Result: The complete generated design should be pasted into the Figma file.

Hi @洋芋123, thanks for flagging this!

Other users in the community have experienced the same issue, so we’ve filed a bug report to have our team investigate.

As a first troubleshooting step, can you see if scrolling through the preview and allowing all elements to load in the Make preview before copying the design helps in any way?

For your reference, all elements of the Make file (e.g. images) may not be available to copy from the file until you they are first triggered to load.

If this does not help, would we have your permission to also try copying these designs and pasting them into a Design file on our end to reproduce the problem? If so, please provide a URL link to your Make file and add support-share@figma.com as an editor, so we can try to take a closer look.

It seems that the problem solves by closing the file, reopening it and then using  the device size property (Mobile preview). Give the desired size (desktop or mobile) and then copy the design. It should work :)

"The issue is not caused by elements not being fully loaded when copying.

I followed the reply from another designer below—closing the file, reopening it and then using the device size property (Mobile preview). Give the desired size (desktop or mobile) and then copy the design.—and it does temporarily solve the problem.

This issue seems to affect many files; it has occurred in almost all of mine. I suggest you try generating one to test it out (try a long web page design with a lot of content)."
