BUG: FigJam inconsistent link embed behavior

FigJam can embed static previews from many sites — it can even embed interactive previews from YouTube.

However, it can’t properly embed static previews from social sites like Instagram, Threads, X/Twitter, and TikTok. When pasting a link to an Instagram post, it initially shows a preview box (as if it’s loading), but then reverts to a plain text link.

Here’s FigJam’s inconsistent link embed behavior across social sites:

  • Instagram posts will not embed and only show a link to the post.
  • Threads posts will embed, but will not show any text or images related to the post — only a generic “Threads – threads.com” label.
  • X/Twitter posts will embed, but only show a snippet of the post text and won’t display a preview image.
  • TikTok posts will embed, but only show a snippet of the post’s text and won’t display a preview image.
  • Facebook posts embed properly, with a full preview image and a snippet of the post text.

Similar apps like Apple’s Freeform embed static previews of Instagram, Threads, X/Twitter, TikTok, and Facebook posts with no issues, and the embeds all look and behave the same.

I don’t see why this isn’t possible in Figjam. This must either be a bug or a lack of design or development prioritization.

Embedding social posts is crucial when using FigJam for brainstorming and mood boards.

I’d love to use FigJam, but right now it seems like I’ll have to try other tools.
