Bug: A frame's "outside" stroke shouldn't be included in export

Matt_Soave

I created a frame that has an ‘outside’ stroke. That is, the stroke is outside the frame:

However, when the image is exported, the frame is included in the final file. This seems like a bug.  Exported image:

Hi @Matt_Soave, Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention!

This might be happening because of some differences between how Figma and SVG handle strokes, which is explained in “Position” section of Apply and adjust stroke properties. Basically, Figma lets you use inside, center, and outside strokes, but SVG only does center strokes.

To help us understand the issue better, could you tell us:

If the issue continues, we would greatly appreciate it if you could submit a bug report refer to this guide: Submit a bug report
So our team can investigate the issue in more detail.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Hi @Junko3, thanks for taking a look and for the information about SVGs. However, this is also happening for PNGs and JPGs. I have tried changing some of the export settings but still see the same issue. I also noticed that this increases the dimensions of the output (e.g. if I have a frame sized 300x100 and have a 20px outside stroke, the exported image is 340x140, which seems like the incorrect behavior. I’ve reported as a bug — thanks again!
