Bootcamp Student Permissions

Hello,

our bootcamp was approved and we verified our students. However, we’re running into permission issues which we couldn’t solve on our own. I’ve send an e-mail to education@figma.com but haven’t received a response yet.

Situation

  • Edu plan was approved as a bootcamp
  • Student email addresses were pre-submitted for verification purposes
  • Permissions are set so that everyone in the Figma workspace (that has the Edu plan) has edit access at the team level
  • Those students were invited to that workspace
  • Each file has permissions set so that everyone in the workspace can access
  • Students can access the workspace
  • Students are reporting seeing a blue banner telling them if they don't verify their edu status they will be removed shortly (even though we just verified them)
  • Students also followed the steps from the blue banner link (in addition to use pre-submitting them)
  • Students are not able to edit files
  • Students who are given individual edit access are still not able to edit files.

We’re circumnavigating the problem by opening Figjam for 24 hours (re-opening the session each day). But we can’t do that for Figma and it’s a bit inconvenient anyway.

I’d appreciate quick support as we are currently running the bootcamp. Thanks!

Hi @nora.war, welcome to Figma Forum and thanks for flagging this.

Sorry to hear about the permission issues you're running into. I went to check on this, though I wasn't able to find a case associated with the email address that's tied to your Figma account. If you have a case number, can you reply here with it as well as the date you reached out to education@figma.com? We aren't able to access or adjust account settings from this public space for security and privacy reasons, though this information will help me follow up and make sure the team has the full context of what you've shared here.

In addition, can you confirm that the admin account was approved via this form as well: Figma EDU Bootcamp Application?

Thanks for your help with this, and I'll keep an eye out for your reply. 🙏🏻

Hi @Tom Reem

The bootcamp was submitted via the google form and accepted on June 2. I sent the e-mail on July 20th to bootcamps@figma.com (unlike said in my original post ; this was the instruction from the acceptance e-mail) with a bunch of screenshots and another e-mail on July 21 to the rep who confirmed the bootcamp.

The e-mail I’m using here should be the one that is tied to the edu plan / bootcamp.

Thanks for your support. Hope we can resolve this soon 🙏🏻

Hi @Tom Reem, thank you so much. Would it help if I send this information through to education@figma.com again to expedite the process?

We worked with an open Figjam session again yesterday and unfortunately some students lost access in the middle of it. When I added them individually with edit-rights, they still couldn’t edit it.

I would really appreciate a quick resolution since our students are absolute beginners, I feel like we’re making everything look harder than it should be, and they are supposed to move into the prototyping phase by the end of this week.

Thanks for the update, @nora.war — no need to reach out to education@figma.com separately at this time. I've shared the details from this thread with the Education team, and they're reviewing. I hear you on the timing — we'll follow up once I have an update.
