Annotations

I was able to reproduce this on my end. It appears that when the “Annotations” is unchecked from the “View” menu, the setting reverts to checked upon reloading the tab.

I totally get that it would be way better if this setting stuck after reloading. But, it turns out other stuff in the "View" menu (like "Comments") works the same way, so it might be how it's supposed to be. Still, I'll pass your feedback along to our team to keep track of it.

• Do you mean it is a bug from your side?
• If so, was there any system upgrade a few days ago? I ask this question because this bug has occurred since a few days ago. No such a bug for the last few years.
• If it is a bug from your side, has other people experienced the same bug?

This may be expected behavior, as other options in the "View" menu (like "Comments") function similarly.

Are you sure it is not a bug? For the last few years, when I open Figma, I have not seen the annotations. I could have seen them by switching to Dev mode. Since a few weeks ago, however, I have seen the annotations in Design mode. Plus, I have to turn off the annotations manually (by going to View menu) whenever I open Figma.

If it is not a bug, could you please help me how I can go back to the previous setting?

Hei ​@Junko3 , as we can quickly hide comments via a hot key, shall we be able to hide annotations and measurements via new hotkeys

They means when you hide comments, then reload that tab, comments will show up again. And so do annotations. They don’t mean that annotations appear in the last few years (as it is added last year).

They have just added Annotations and Measurements into design mode just yesterday (see this thread). I guess they want to help designers can both design and take notes simultaneously.

Meanwhile appearance behavior of Annotations and Comments are quite similar.

Yes! This is incredibly annoying. I keep coming back to design files to see red lines over everything. I don’t need this. I will never, ever need this. If I’ve turned it off, I’d like it to stay off… What’s the point in having the setting if it only lasts until you refresh? Utterly odd.

• 1) Do you mean that there is no hotkey to hide the annotations? This “Annotations on Design mode” is really inconvenien to me.
• 2) Do you mean that the only way to hide the annotations on Design mode today is going to View menu and deselecting Annotations?
• 3) And I have to do 2) above every time I log in???

Agree with others that it is annoying. Surprisingly, the annotations occur only in a specific file. It totally looks like I bug. I would like to turn them off once and for all, these are just distracting red lines…
