I work a lot with branches. I also set all kinds of annotations for developers there. I use different categories in the annotations to be able to categorize them better.
If I then merge the file, the categories are reset and the annotations no longer have an categorization. Can this please be changed, it is quite time consuming to add all categories again 🙈

Hey Nina, thanks for flagging this and your feedback!
I’ve shared it internally to the team, thank you 🙂

Same problem here. We systemically work in branches when working on our Design System. We found annotations to be very useful for one of our components, both for the other designers in our team but also the developpers we’re working with. We used custom categories that fit our needs, partly to make the annotations easier to distinguish.

Merging the branch where we used the annotations erased all our custom categories, making them unreadable. I hope a fix will be implemented soon, as it’s a very valuable feature that we had planned on using on other components.

Hi Aminata, thanks for sharing your experience, I really appreciate the context. I understand that this impacts workflows where annotations are essential, especially in cross-functional teams.

I’ve shared your feedback internally to highlight how this affects teams working in branches, and I’ll make sure the team is aware of this thread.

For visibility, there’s no confirmed timeline for a fix just yet, but please know the team fully understands how this impacts your workflow. We’re actively surfacing this with the team and will follow up once we have any updates.

Thanks again for speaking up!

Same issue here, when I merge the branch, the annotation color is removed, the custom added annotation labels against each color category is erased.
