Hi, recently I encountered very weird glitch while prototyping in Figma. I did simple drop down menu animation but for some reason it looks glitchy (pls see video). You can clearly see the drop down menu section itself all move by one pixel or something when clicked. And the bigger problem is the price slider also move! The slider has no animation at all, and it’s not connected to the drop down menu at all!

Anyone know what might be the problem here? I tried to clear figma cache but it didn’t help.

Thank you very much.

Hi @TungWhat — welcome to Figma Forum and thanks for flagging this!

I appreciate you sharing the video and I can see what you mean. The slight shift in the text and slider after clicking the menu button is definitely noticeable, and we’d love to help get to the bottom of it.

To help narrow things down, could you let me know:

  1. Are you seeing this behavior in the browser, the desktop app, or both?
  2. If using the desktop app, are you running version 125.4.9 or later?
  3. Which prototype actions are active on the animation? In some of my own files, I’ve noticed that sometimes duplicate or conflicting actions can cause unexpected behavior.

If updating the app or disabling any unintended prototype actions do not resolve this, our Technical Quality team can also take a closer look. You can kick off a review of your file by filling out this secure form and including:

  • a link to the affected file
  • edit access granted to support-share@figma.com
  • a screen recording showing how the impacted components are set up (if possible, include the sidebars for extra context).

Thanks again for sharing this — let us know how it goes. 🙏🏻

Hi, thank you for quick response.

  1. I’m seeing this behavior in both browser and app.
  2. Yes I’m running the app on version 125.5.6
  3. As I mentioned before, this is very simple action with one component and one variant, the only action is: On click → Change to (Smart animate - Ease out - 150ms)

I have submitted using the form you provided and also granted edit access to support-share@figma.com

Thank you.

Thanks for confirming those details and for granting edit access, @TungWhat — really appreciate you taking the time. I can see that our Technical Quality team has received your case and will be taking a closer look. They’ll be in touch soon via email with next steps. Appreciate your patience as we dig in. 💯

Hello @TungWhat and anyone else following along here.

I’m returning back with an update after reviewing findings from the team investigating this report. It turns out this behavior is tied to a long-standing issue related to Smart Animate causing glitchy or choppy animation as described above. While I’m not able to share a specific timeline for a fix just yet, I want to reassure you it’s on our radar.

💡In the meantime, the best solution is to swap in another interaction — like Instant — instead of using Smart Animate. You can read more about how Instant works here: Prototype animations → Instant.

I know this might not be the update you were hoping for, but we really appreciate your patience as we continue working to improve the experience. We’ll keep this thread updated with any news as it becomes available.
