Allow to transfer a file design system and stop being owner of file

Hi,

I am not a designer who edits projects, but I am the owner of the file. I don’t want to continue my subscription, but when I cancel my seat, the file containing the design system will disappear from the accounts of the designers connected to it.

Please let me know how I can ensure that the designers retain access to the design system without my subscription.

I understand that you’d like to cancel your team subscription while ensuring that your collaborators can continue accessing the design system files in the team.

I can see that you’ve already submitted a support ticket(#1696741) regarding this, so please wait for a response from the specialist who’s handling your case—they’ll be able to review your specific setup in more detail.

 

In the meantime, I’d like to share some general information about what happens when a Professional plan team is downgraded to a Starter plan team, which may help clarify what to expect.

  • The Starter plan has file limits. If your team exceeds those limits at the time of downgrade, your files will not be deleted, but editing will be restricted.

  • You won’t be able to edit those files unless they’re moved to another team or to your personal drafts.

Also, here are a few key things to know:

  • On the Starter plan, collaborators can only be invited to drafts with view access.

  • Team libraries aren’t available on the Starter plan.

If you and your designers on your team decide to remain on a Professional plan, another option is to transfer team ownership and billing to someone else on the team.

Please note that billing details need to be updated before transferring ownership.
