Question

All files deleted and projects are lost, with student account re-verification.

Prangan Kashyap

Hi,

I have been using a Figma student account, and recently I was logged out of the Desktop App and prompted to log back in. After re-verifying my student status, I noticed that all my files, projects, and teams appear to have been wiped. I no longer have access to any of my work, including drafts—it looks as though a completely new account has been created under the same email address.

This is extremely concerning, as I’ve lost access to years of work. Please help me recover my original account and associated files.

Here is a link to my Figma community profile, which is still live:
Community Profile: https://www.figma.com/@prangan_k

If possible, could you also confirm which email address is associated with this profile? I can still view a few files in View Mode through this profile, so it seems to be linked to the work I’ve lost.

Thank you for your assistance.

Hi @Prangan Kashyap  ,

Thanks for reaching out. This is Toku from the Figma Community team. I completely understand how concerning it can be when you can't locate your files.

Just to clarify, when a student status expires, files are typically locked rather than deleted. After checking our system, I can confirm that your files still exist in our database.

To help us troubleshoot further:

  1. Do you have any specific file URLs from your browser history that we could look up?
  2. Could you verify that you're logging into the correct account and team?
  3. Are you seeing any error messages indicating that your student status has expired?

Let me know so we can investigate further.

Thanks,

Toku

Hi Toku,

Thank you so much for your response.

I wanted to access all my files. It seems all my files have vanished from Recents, and all my projects are no longer available, as you can see below.

As you can see here, two profiles of mine are shown. The first one is listed as the owner, and the second one is the profile I currently have access to. The owner profile is the one I need access to. As per my understanding, both profiles should have the same email address ([Deducted]), but they are showing different files.

The account I need access to is the one associated with my Figma community profile:
https://www.figma.com/@prangan_k

Can you please let me know what email address is associated with this profile? I’ve tried using all my known email addresses to access it. If any other email address is associated with it outside of my current student email address ([Deducted]), could you manually merge it into my current student account?

These are some example files where I am shown as the owner, but my current Figma account ([Deducted]) doesn’t show them. I don’t just want access to the files—I need access to the account associated with those files to be transferred to the email address I currently have access to: [Deducted].

Adding on, I’ve have also noticed that the files I created and embedded in my portfolio still appear to be live, which suggests they haven’t been deleted. My understanding is that the files still exist, but they are no longer associated with any of the email addresses I currently have access to ([Deducted]).

Hi @Prangan Kashyap

Thanks for providing those details! I'll look into these files for you right away.

For privacy and security reasons, I've removed your email address from your post. I'll get back to you as soon as I have any information I can share.

Thanks for your patience while I investigate this.
