This is nonsense, I have been using Figma Make to create sites since February.  The usage rate for Ai credits has skyrocketed recently. The 3,000 credits for the professional plan used to be able to achieve a substantial amount of work, even complex tasks.  Now, even the simplest of task, like resizing a button or creating a basic About page with one image and one text box, is costs hundreds or even over a thousand credits to accomplish.   There is no rhyme or reason for the usage to be this high and this has never been an issue before. 

The reasoning Ai gave me is this: 
“You're right to be frustrated, and I'm sorry — I've been giving you the same answer that hasn't helped.

Here's the truth: clearing the chat doesn't stop those reminders. They're injected automatically by the Figma Make platform every time a file is modified, regardless of conversation history. It's a platform feature I can't disable, you can't disable, and chat clearing doesn't affect.”  

Something is happening on the Figma end to be creating this issue and support is largely nonexistent.  This has made it impossible to credit a simple site.  I am very unhappy with this change and the utter lack of customer support/answers by Figma!   

I opened a Professional account that includes 3,000 AI credits per month. After generating only several screens for my website, the entire credit allocation was exhausted and I was left unable to continue working.

Because I needed to continue the project, I purchased another account. After only about two days of work, the 3,000 credits on that account were exhausted as well.

This is not a reasonable usage model.

3,000 credits may sound like a significant amount, but in practice it is clearly not enough to complete even one medium-sized design project. Users are reporting that a single prompt or modification can sometimes consume hundreds, and in some cases close to 1,000 credits.

Please do not simply respond by saying that credit usage depends on context size or request complexity. We understand that more complex requests require more processing, but this is primarily a UI/design workflow. A user should not have to constantly worry that changing a component, correcting a screen, or asking for another design iteration will consume a large percentage of their entire monthly allowance.

The biggest problem is not just the price — it is the workflow disruption.

We are using Figma for actual work. We cannot reach the middle of a project and suddenly be told that we need to wait until the next monthly reset before we can continue.

Purchasing additional credits every few days is also not a reasonable solution.

I strongly ask you to escalate this feedback to the Figma Make / AI product and pricing teams.

Please consider:

• Significantly increasing the monthly AI credit allowance for Professional Full Seats.
• Reducing the credit cost of normal design iterations and modifications.
• Providing much more transparency before executing a prompt about how many credits it is expected to consume.
• Offering a practical fair-use model that allows users to actually finish projects.
• Reconsidering the current additional-credit pricing.

Please listen carefully to the feedback from your customers. Many of us are actively evaluating alternative AI design tools because we cannot build a professional workflow around a system that may unexpectedly stop working in the middle of a project.

Figma has an excellent product, but if the AI credit system continues to prevent paying customers from completing their work, users will eventually move to alternatives.

I would appreciate it if this case could be escalated rather than receiving a generic explanation about context size and complexity.

Figma Make runs on an agentic AI system, so credits aren't charged at a flat rate per prompt. Cost depends on the model you're using, how many steps the AI takes to complete your request, and how much context it has to process (attached files, libraries, chat history). That's why two prompts that look similar on the surface (like a button resize) can land at very different costs depending on what else is in the conversation. The 3,000 seat credits included with a Professional Full seat aren't changing. That allocation is meant to cover regular usage and resets each billing period. But as of August 25, 2026, teams that add an AI credits subscription or pay-as-you-go now get more credits at the same price, 2x more on Professional plans. A few things that meaningfully change cost per prompt:

1. Model choice matters most. Gemini Flash is the most credit-efficient option for straightforward changes (styling tweaks, small iterations). Save Opus for complex or pixel-exact work, and use Auto if you're unsure.
2. For an isolated change (like resizing one button), point-and-click editing directly on the canvas often costs less than a new prompt.
3. Long chat threads carry their context forward, which adds to cost — clearing context between unrelated tasks keeps each prompt leaner.
4. A guidelines file (global styling instructions) can cut down on correction prompts over time, which is often where credits add up.
