AI does not work [Pro:Full Seat]

Hi,

I just subscribed for Figma Professional, Full seat.

AI chat does not work at all; I’ve experienced this on the Figma agent in Figma Design (`srid_0CT4X0C69F24EGKH575BQR1N5`), prompt enhancement in Figma Make before initiation, and the live preview in Figma Make after processing the initation requiest (Live preview failed ID: `srid_Y8J3BYRKA3WT13VF9W5C72NS1`, `srid_9TM8KCSANCZ18Z0VJHS4K2DNZ`).

I believe this is a differentiator on the paid plans, no?  How does a company the size of Figma ship defective plans like this, then charge customers?

I’d appreciate this issue getting resolved; this is somewhat a frustrating first experience, currently there’s not much justification to not just swtich back to free...

Thanks

Hey @B-V — welcome to Figma Forum and thanks for your report.

On a Professional Full seat you do have access to these AI tools, so what you're seeing isn't expected — let's find what's blocking it.

First, thank you for including those request IDs — can you let me know if there are any accompanying error messages associated with them? If so, this resource lists known issues that may surface, and how to resolve them: Troubleshoot in Figma Make → Error messages.

Since this is hitting in Figma Design, prompt enhancement in Figma Make, and Make's live preview all at once, a single shared cause is likely. Three additional things worth ruling out:

  1. Your AI credit balance. Open any file you can edit, then Main menuAI balance. That shows credits used, credits remaining, and your reset date. Once credits run out AI stops across every surface at once. More details: How AI credits work.
  2. Whether AI is enabled for your team. This one only applies if you're the team or org admin. To check, open the file browser, go to AdminSettingsAI. If you see an "Enable AI" option there, AI is currently switched off for the team — turning it on should restore it. More details: Manage AI settings and content training for your team or organization.
  3. Your browser and network. Try once in a private window with extensions disabled, and once on a different network (a phone hotspot is the fastest test). Proxies, VPNs, and some extensions can block Figma's AI requests while the rest of Figma works normally — which looks a lot like what you're describing. If you're on the Figma Desktop App, switching to the browser (or the reverse) is a useful data point too. More details: Troubleshoot AI tools in Figma.
  4. Try a different model. If you’re using Figma Make, does selecting a different AI model change results? Looking at the dialog box in the lower left corner, click on the current model in use → select a different one from the menu → try the prompt again.

Let me know what these checks turn up. If AI is still blocked, I'll connect you with our Customer Support team for a closer look into the files where this is happening. 🙏🏻

Thanks for the response, feedback below.

  1. AI Balance is sufficient, it’s never worked so its at 100%.
Editable file → Main Menu → AI Balance

  1. I am the admin, there is nothing to configure.

Settings → AI
People → Manage
  1. I use VPN all the time, it could be the issue (caused by Figma server side processing), but that’s a hard no go for deactivating my privacy protection layer.

Got it — thanks for checking those and reporting back, @B-V. 🙏🏻

I’d still like to rule out potential network issues, and have one more request that doesn’t involve turning off VPN. In your Network settings, see whether any Figma domains are showing as blocked. The full allowlist and how to check are here: Adjust your network settings.

*.makeproxy-c.figma.site is worth looking for in particular — it's what Make's live preview relies on, and a fairly recent report traced a live-preview failure to exactly that being blocked. The steps that resolved it (allowlisting, plus a DNS switch if it's allowlisted but still blocked) are in the best answer here: Figma Make is not working. Since your agent and prompt enhancement are failing too, please check for any blocked Figma domains, not just that one.

If everything's already allowlisted and it's still not working, let me know and I'll get the team to take a closer look. Thanks again for sticking with me on this.
