Account Locked

I am writing to request assistance with my account, which appears to be locked.

I previously used this account for educational purposes at an academy about a year ago. As I have recently re-enrolled in the academy, I intended to use the service again. However, I am currently unable to access it due to the account lock.

I have two specific questions regarding this:

  1. Is it possible to unlock my account so that I can use it again?

  2. Since I would like to use it under a basic setup, is it possible to transition this account to a Free Plan? I understand that new accounts typically have access to a free tier; can my existing account be converted to that status?

I look forward to your guidance on how to resolve this issue.

Hey @현아3, thanks for reaching out!

Could you confirm a couple of details for me?

From what I can see, the account you contacted us from is currently on the free Starter plan. Are you referring to this account, or is there a different Figma account that may be locked?

If you are referring to this account, when you say it’s “locked,” do you mean that you’re unable to edit your files?

In many cases, this can happen when an account transitions from an Education plan back to the free Starter plan. The Starter plan has some file limits, and if those limits are exceeded, editing can be temporarily restricted.

Here’s a quick overview of those limits:

  • Up to 3 Figma Design or Sites files per project
  • Up to 3 FigJam files and 3 Slides files per project

If your team has more files than allowed after the downgrade, Figma will prevent editing until things are brought within those limits.

To regain full access, you can:

  • Move files into a single project (within the Starter plan limits)
  • Remove any extra projects
  • Move files to Drafts or another team
  • Download copies of any important files or invoices

You can find step-by-step instructions here: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038511573-Move-a-file

Once your files are within the allowed limits, editing should be restored.

If this doesn’t sound like your situation, feel free to share a bit more detail. Happy to help further!
