Hi Figma team,

I’m unable to use an existing Figma account that was upgraded through a student plan a couple of weeks ago.

After migrating my email domain through Google Workspace, i have now logged in with a different email than was was used to verify student status. As a result, Figma has blocked my account, and it is in view-only mode.

I have tried to fill out the application to student plan, but with no luck. I believe this requires a manual reassociation of the email. I can re-verify student status again if needed.

Thanks for your help.

Hey @Tobias Lindebø, thanks for explaining what happened.

Just to make sure I understand correctly, did you change the email address on your existing Figma account, or are you logging into a completely new account with a different email? And is the new email also an educational email address?

If you’ve changed the email address on your account and the new email is still a valid educational email, the Education status won’t automatically carry over.

In that case, you’ll need to submit the Education form so the team can review your student status with the updated email:

One important note, the team isn’t able to transfer Education status from an account tied to an educational email to one tied to a personal (non-school) email.

Thank you,

Gayani
