Hello,

I accidentally deleted an important Figma design file. First, I moved it to Trash, and then I permanently deleted it from Trash by mistake.

I have already checked:

  • Drafts

  • Deleted Files

  • Trash

  • Search results

  • Original file URL while logged into the same account

When I open the file URL, I receive the following message:

"Hmm, we couldn't find that one. This Design file may have been deleted, moved, or made unavailable."

I do not have a duplicate, backup, or another copy of the file.

File Name: File Name: Civic Leader Entrepreneur Portfolio Clients Projects

File URL:

Account Email: (redacted by the moderator due to PII)

The file contained important work and was deleted accidentally. Could a Figma Support Specialist please confirm whether any recovery options, internal backups, archives, or retention systems are available for this file?

Thank you very much for your assistance.

Hello everyone,

I am desperately looking for help and would sincerely appreciate any guidance.

Today, on June 23, 2026, between approximately 11:00 AM and 11:30 AM (Bangladesh Time), I accidentally permanently deleted one of my most important Figma design files. First, I mistakenly moved the file to Trash, and then, without realizing it, I permanently deleted it from Trash as well.

This was not just a practice file—it was a real client project for a US client that I had spent many hours designing. Losing this file has put me in a very difficult situation.

I still have the original file URL, but when I open it, I receive the following message:

"Hmm, we couldn't find that one. This Design file may have been deleted, moved, or made unavailable."

I have already checked:

  • Drafts

  • Deleted Files

  • Trash

  • Search Results

  • File URL while logged into the original account

Unfortunately, the file is no longer visible anywhere.

Since the file was permanently deleted less than an hour ago, I am hoping there may still be some recovery possibility through internal backups, retention systems, archives, or any other method available to Figma Support.

If anyone from the Figma team, support specialists, or experienced community members knows of any possible solution, please help me. This project is extremely important to me, and I would be incredibly grateful for any assistance or advice.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post, and thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

Hey @Shadman Sojib, I can only imagine how stressful this has been, especially knowing this was a real client project you'd put serious time into.

Once a file has been permanently deleted from Trash, it isn't something we're able to recover on our end. This applies regardless of how recently it was deleted.

I've done an internal check on the file using the URL you provided, and I can confirm that the file has been permanently deleted from our systems. Unfortunately, at this stage there's no recovery path available, the file no longer exists on our end. I'm really sorry we can't do more here.

Going forward, the best way to protect against this is to keep a local backup of important files. You can save a copy of any Figma Design file at any time via Main menu → File → Save local copy — that gives you a .fig file on your machine that's yours to keep. It's worth making that a habit for any client work.

You can read more about how file deletion works in our Help Center: Delete and restore files.

I'm really sorry again, Shadman. If there's anything else I can help with, don't hesitate to reach out.
