My name is Matheus, and I am the founder of Auctorium Axis, currently developing AXIS, an operating system for healthcare clinics, along with three companion applications that are part of its ecosystem.

At this stage of development, we are focusing heavily on product design, UI/UX, prototyping, design systems, and the collaboration between design and engineering. Throughout my research, Figma has consistently been recommended as the industry-standard platform, which is why I am very interested in adopting it as our primary design tool.

Before committing to a paid subscription, I would love the opportunity to evaluate the platform in a real-world development environment. Since I have never used Figma before, I would like to experience its professional workflow and understand how it fits into our product development process.

I would like to ask whether it would be possible to receive a trial, an extended evaluation period, or any startup, educational, or developer program that would allow us to test Figma Professional while building the AXIS ecosystem.

If the experience meets our needs—as I believe it will—I intend to make Figma our long-term design platform.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

Matheus

Hey @Actorium Áxis, thanks for reaching out!

Really appreciate the detail here and I understand to properly test the tooling before committing your team to it.

I want to be upfront with you on a couple of points:

  • We don't currently offer trials or extended evaluation periods for the Professional plan.
  • We also don't have a startup, non-profit, or developer discount program you'd qualify for here. Our Education plan is free, but it's reserved for verified students and educators in structured classroom programs, so it wouldn't apply to Auctorium Axis.

The good news is you don't need a paid plan to get real hands-on experience. Our free Starter plan gives you:

  • Figma Design for UI/UX work and prototyping
  • FigJam for collaborative brainstorming and flows
  • Figma Slides
  • Figma Make, which turns prompts into working code (500 AI credits a month on Starter)

Since you mentioned design systems and design-to-engineering handoff specifically, worth flagging two limits on Starter: there's no Dev Mode and no shared team libraries, and your folder is capped at 3 Figma Design/Sites files, 3 FigJam files, and 3 Figma Slides files (you do get unlimited personal drafts, though). Those are the main things you'd pick up on Professional.

If Starter gives you enough of a feel and you want to properly test the full feature set. Dev Mode, libraries, unlimited files before rolling it out to your whole team, the Professional plan can also be billed monthly rather than annually, so you're not locked into a long-term commitment just to evaluate it.

You can see the full breakdown in our Starter plan overview, and our pricing page has a side-by-side comparison of all the plans if that's helpful.

Feel free to come back with questions as you're testing things out, happy to help however I can.Â
