Jonathan Low

Hello Figma team,

I’m having trouble accessing a Figma file that has become restricted since I no longer work with my previous employer, Westpac.

This file is my personal design portfolio, not company IP, and I need access to it urgently. Unfortunately, the file is still tied to my old work email, which I no longer have access to.

File link:
https://www.figma.com/file/KsWFIQFJKSL4SAPyvNeeaW/Jonathan-Low-Portfolio-User-Research-Coordinator?fuid=961108864078313754

Important details:

  • I no longer work at Westpac

  • I no longer have access to my old work email

  • My new and current email address is [redacted by moderator to remove personal information]

  • This file is my personal design portfolio and is very important to me

Could you please advise on how I can regain access to this file or transfer ownership to my current email address? I’m happy to provide any verification needed.

Thank you very much for your help.

Kind regards,
Jonathan Low

Hi @Jonathan Low

I understand that you’ve lost access to an important file after leaving your previous company and no longer having access to the associated work email address.

I checked on our end, and it appears that the file is currently located in the “Unassigned drafts” within your previous company’s organization.

Just so you know, when a user is removed from a team or organization, any drafts they created are collected into a project that can only be accessed and managed by admins (organization admins on Organization or Enterprise plans, and team admins on Professional plans).

You can find more details here: Manage drafts of removed users

In this situation, the best next step would be to reach out directly to an organization admin from your previous company. Only organization admins can move or manage these drafts.

Please note that organization admins are also able to permanently delete drafts created by removed users, so we recommend contacting them as soon as possible if the file is important to you.

Thanks,
