I’m known by ExperiencersInternational online and I’m new to this forum (but not new to Discourse). Just discovered it after messing with the Discourse Hub app on Android.

I’ve been designing graphics for a couple of years in Figma now and I’ve been able to make some nice pieces.

Some work I’ve made in Figma has appeared in plugins that I’ve published on the Roblox platform and on other forums too (did some headers recently for some topics).

Subject: New to Figma — Building an Accessibility-First App, Looking for Guidance

Hello everyone,

My name is Robert (Bob) Layton. A few years ago, I experienced a massive brainstem stroke that left me with Locked-In Syndrome — fully aware and mentally active, but with very limited mobility and no speech. I now use assistive technology to communicate and work.

I’m currently building HUMNLITE (pronounced human light), an accessibility-first app designed from the ground up for people with disabilities, caregivers, and medical professionals. The goal is to make everyday digital interactions easier for people with limited mobility, without having to retrofit accessibility after the fact.

Here’s the catch: I have zero prior experience in Figma or app design. I’m learning from scratch and would love any advice, resources, tutorials, or even simple workflow tips to help me get from basic shapes to a working prototype.

If you’ve built accessibility-focused designs before, or know of Figma plugins/templates that could save me time and keep things truly inclusive, I’d be grateful for your suggestions.
