Question

Will I lose all my work if I don't upgrade/transfer my Figma EDU files?

Just graduated and I’m waiting to get a Pro plan later. Once I’m officially out of EDU status will I still be able to transfer and edit all my student files to my own professional account?

Hey @koalalaland 👋 No worries. Your files don’t get deleted. How you access them may change until you get you Pro account set up. This Help center article (the Offboarding section specifically) covers all the common questions.

To dig in to that article a bit, you have a few options:

  • Move the files you want to keep working on into your own Drafts. Right-click the file thumbnail in the file browser, choose Move file, and pick your Drafts. Drafts don't count toward the free Starter plan's file limit, so anything you move there stays editable
  • Save local copies as a backup. Open the file, then Main menu > File > Save local copy. You can reimport these into any account later by dragging them into the file browser

I hope this helps! — Jaycee
