Why the Variables API is only available on enterprise plans?

Today I started an idea using Figma API Variables basically I would use an API to update strings in an application. But unfortunately, I noticed that it is only available for enterprise plans, which made me sad. 😢 😭

Why that?

    This only applies to the REST API, not the Plugin API.

      I don’t really consider this a solution? Will the variables API be available on other plans when it exits beta?
